WAREHOUSE DISTRICT
The Warehouse district, just west of the central business district, is the upscale cousin to 6th street. A bit trendier and certainly more pricey, it caters to a slightly older crowd than the other downtown entertainment areas. True to its name, the restaurants and clubs in this district have been renovated from former warehouses into trendy restaurants, top-notch concert halls, and distinctive bars. Live music is everywhere in the Warehouse District and great restaurants are easy to find. The District itself is roughly bounded on the north and south by W. 6th St. and 2. 3rd St. and the west and east by Guadalupe and Congress Avenue. Entertainment hot spots are concentrated primarily along 4th and 5th Streets from Guadalupe to Congress Avenue and include Antone's, The Gingerman, and the Spaghetti Warehouse. Austin's festive Warehouse District is a hotbed of great dining and club-going, with a mix of cool bars, swank lounges, and hip restaurants.
One of several excellent and popular restaurants along West 4th Street in Austin's Warehouse District, Saba Blue Water Cafe serves tasty Caribbean- and Asian-inspired fare, such as tempura tuna with honey-wasabi glaze, lobster-and-Brie empanadas, mahimahi with lemongrass cream and hoisin-glazed banana, and pork tenderloin with tamarind-molasses, sweet potatoes, and pecans. Other excellent dining options along the same stretch include Malaga Wine & Tapas Bar, Fado Irish Pub, and Halcyon Coffeehouse, Bar, and Lounge.
