GENERAL

WHAT ARE ADEO TOURS?
Our tours are guided audio expeditions of popular locations. Each package includes the tour file, a map that clearly outlines the tour on a street plan, and simple instructions for following the guide. The tour files are in MP3 format; you can listen to them on your own MP3 player or rent an MP3 player at the your local city ‘Visitors Center’. | top

WHERE DO TOURS BEGIN?
Meeting sites and directions for tours can be found within the tour map. Most tours do not conclude where they begin. Our tours will provide directions to local sites as the tour is in progress, as well as directions back to the place where your tour originated. | top

WHEN CAN I TAKE A TOUR?
Anytime! However, there is an optimal time suggested for each tour as Adeo helps you discover private and hidden locations that may adhere to posted hours of operation. | top

HOW LONG DOES A TOUR TAKE?
It lasts from 1 to 2 hours. | top

WHERE CAN I GET A MAP FOR MY TOUR ?
You will receive a PDF map when you purchase and download a tour. You'll just need a PDF viewer such as Acrobat Reader, which is available free from Adobe.com. | top

DO I HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE TOUR AT ONCE?
No, you can do as much or as little as you wish. You can even leave a tour on one day and resume it on another day. | top

DO I HAVE TO PLAY THE TOUR TRACKS IN ORDER & DO I HAVE TO START WITH TRACK #1?
No and no. You can start anywhere you like. You can go to any point on the map and listen to the track with the corresponding number. Each track does direct you to the next stop on the tour line, but you can ignore the directions, listen to content and proceed to wherever YOU want to go. | top

TECHNOLOGY

WHAT ARE MP3 FILES?
MP3's are relatively small audio files that offer excellent sound quality. They are formed by 'compressing' regular audio files (such as .wav files) and removing some information. However, the information that is removed allows a much smaller file size and has a minimal effect on the sound quality of the audio. For this reason MP3 files have become extremely popular for Internet users. Their smaller size allows for faster downloads and less storage space, without a losing sound quality. | top

HOW DO I LISTEN TO AND SAVE MP3's?
With most MP3 software, you just select (or ‘double-click’ on) the MP3 you wish to listen to and the device will start playing. This is true for all MP3 player software that is installed with Windows. | top

To save MP3's to your computer, position the cursor over the desired track and 'right-click', or press the right mouse button. Select the 'save target as' (or similar option, depending on your browser). This will propose a location on your computer to save the MP3. Assign an appropriate file name, with the extension '.mp3' and press 'save' to save the track. For example, if you are saving the audio for St. Mary's Cathedral in Austin , you could assign it the name 'stmary.mp3'. Also, you may want to create your own directory for the MP3's, so you can locate them easily later. | top

HOW BIG ARE THE FILES?
Each tour contains multiple tracks, however, the total space required on your MP3 player for each tour will be about 100-150MB. | top

WHAT HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE DO I NEED TO BEGIN MY TOUR?
You will need a device capable of playing MP3 files, e.g. an MP3 player or an iPod. You will need a means of un-zipping your downloaded file. Windows XP has file un-zipping software built in. Older versions of windows will require WinZip. If you do not already have WinZip, a free evaluation copy can be downloaded from http://www.winzip.com. | top

You will also need Adobe Acrobat Reader or a similar program to read and print the instructions and map, both of which, are labeled .PDF files. This can be downloaded free from http://www.adobe.com. | top
